I'm the turtle not the hare!

Just the other weekend, I was running (if you can call my slow jog...Almost speed walking pace running) in a race in Cola-town. The course itself was difficult and then add in my lack-of training, well it just wasn't pretty. However, I was running along a stretch where the weren't many people cheering nor was there anything to look at....Just the trees! As I started to round the corner, there was a young girl probably about 12 or 13 who was directing the runners which way they should go. Now this girl had been cheering for people in front of me, I heard her telling people to "keep going", "your almost done", "good job" etc.... Very positive things. Well, as I get closer I must have looked like I was crawling because of out this little sweet looking girl comes "slow and steady wins it"! Yep, directly to me! I looked around...NO ONE! Just me with the "slow and steady pace"! I must of have really been running...oops...jogging very slow! So, that was my motto through the last 4 miles.....slow and steady! Thanks to the young girl who gave me such inspiration towards the end of the race........well, I 'm sure there were many other things she could have yelled out and I am grateful she didn't! Maybe one day I'll be the hare......good thing there is always hope!
