Se Habla Espanol ?

I guess I should have paid more attention to my Spanish professor in college and during class. I can say a few things like "un poco" and "pregunta" but that's close to my limit. I sure can't follow when someone is conversing in Spanish. So, as you can assume I recently had a "spanish" episode. So here's the story......We began conditioning a few weeks ago and as usual girls come out that I haven't seen before. I had heard that there may be a few Hispanic girls coming out for conditioning but didn't think too much of it. Well, nothing about the Hispanic girls crossed my mind until they showed up and only one spoke some English! Now, here is where those four semsesters of Spanish would have come in perfect but as I have mention before I can't remember a lick of it! The scene was quite hilarious.....I was trying to comminucate with the one girl who spoke English then she would translate! The thing with translators is you don't know what they are saying!! Who knows....she may have told them I was a running Nazi or coach likes it when you run slow! It all worked out pretty good considering the circumstances. I thought I had everything figured out - I would tell the one girl and she would translate. I would then ask "uno pregunta" hoping there were no questions. All is well, right. NOPE.....then came the parents! Now this was yet another great sight to see! I was so thankful the "translator" was still there! It just amazed me at how much a language barrier can complicate things! So that English to Spanish dictionary for Christmas will come in handy this year! It shall be another sight to see when they are on the field and I am trying to communicate to them from the sideline~! (the season starts in feb. I'll keep you posted)
The moral of the story - Remember what you are taught! There go the dollar signs right down the drain :) (sorry dad)
